Light Blocking Operation
The hard slats of blinds are excellent at blocking light as they are impenetrable to the sun’s rays. But, there are ways that light can sneak around the edges or leak through cord holes in traditional operating systems. The de-Light™ system from Hunter Douglas can eliminate cord holes and their resulting light leaks for comprehensively darker interiors. Layered Treatments
Elevate function and fashion using blackout blinds in multi-layered designs for bedroom window treatments. Pair blackout blinds with side panels for better coverage around the edges and a look that frames windows. Or, for full range and visual boldness, pair your blinds with floor-to-ceiling drapery that has a blackout back liner. The rich fabric folds add textural interest and movement to the window fashion, while the liner helps to strengthen the underlying blind’s ability to block sunlight completely. Sheer Incarnations
Modern blinds with blackout properties have many incarnations, none more ethereal than soft blinds that marry the lightness of light shades with the ingenuity of blind design. Silhouette® Sheer Shades have opaque s-shaped horizontal vanes between two light-diffusing sheer panels. Like the slats on traditional blackout blinds, the vanes on Silhouette® Sheer Shades can be adjusted to let in more or less light. When closed completely, they darken rooms, and when open, they continue to protect rooms with their sheer layers that let in soft natural light but filter out harmful UV.
Silhouette® Sheer Shades are also available with the Duolite® system. This light control upgrade adds a blackout back shade to the base treatment for a dual-shade controlled through a singular roller head. Working together, the two shades provide an expanded ability to respond to different lighting situations without sacrificing the soft aesthetic of sheer shades or the intense linear look of classic blinds.
